ARTIST STATEMENT

Paintings and Mixed Media Works:

My work reflects my interest in Western Philosophy, particularly Metaphysics (the science of reality) and Ontology (the science of Being). In Aristotles’s book METAPHYSICS, he stresses that of all our senses, we value the sense of sight the most in apprehending the truth (reality). And, later in the same book he states that “of all the sciences, the science of Art is the most marvelous”. Also, Heidegger believes that Greek Philosophy is very visual (e.g., “Speak so I can see your soul” Socrates and “The soul never thinks without an image” Aristotle). With these thoughts in mind, I have developed a mixed media technique to heighten the visual sensation of my work. In addition, there are several works like Super Metaphysical Being #1 and #2, which explores the expressions of Being in both the corporeal and incorporeal sense.
